There are many a firm which will give you more work once they realize that you are back on the market again. The more temporary positions you have held, the more likely you are going to be able to offer something for these companies that they are going to want. Instead of going around looking for where help is needed, the employers will come to you.
You may also want to get a little bit proactive if you're facing a temporary employee layoff. Many employers will lay you off without warning but there are a few that are going to give you some hints as to whether you are going to be out of a job soon. It may also be that you were only under contract for a certain amount of time and now that time is quickly running out. Instead of waiting until you're out of work to find another job, go out and take the initiative to look for additional work to replace what you're losing.
